2007 Newsletter
Hello to all;
We have completed many things this past month and have a very active schedule
ahead of us and need your help.
What we did:
Our
first mews build by Jon-Caleb, Eagle Scout was dedicated and we have begun on
a second mews with Colby Grayson another Eagle Scout.
Reggie
Helms and Paul Hardesty released a Red Tail which was transferred to us last month.
Another success!
We
admitted a Barred owl with a broken wing and it is doing well. Eric Houtchen and
others have been helping to feed this beautiful owl. More helpers are needed to
share the load so you are most welcome.
A
Hawk Talk was done at Halloween Happenings at Yellow Creek Park. Don Boarman,
Eric Houtchen and I spoke to hundreds of children about Raptors and the environment.
What we’re
going to do:

This
Saturday(Nov. 10 from 9-noon) I will have Nemo (RT) at Yellow Creek to train volunteers
on handling a RT.
We
are also working on the flight cage. Reggie has organized with May Electric to
set the poles for the building.
I need a photographer and two more raptor volunteers to help out. Contact me directly
to help out and promote this community event. We must energize our rehab team.
We have Eric Houtchen & Samantha Kelly and we need more people to help feed and
care for our patients. If you’re inspired come by on Saturday or contact me directly.
I am also recruiting a rehab team leader. If you’re led to be that person please
talk to me. This is not for everyone. We are planning a board meeting, likely
during the Thanksgiving break. I would like ideas for the agenda. I already have
some good ones from Reggie and would like more.
If you’re interested in becoming a Falconer then you need to come by and learn
more. The Falconry apprenticeship is hard in many way and the rewards are life
changing.
What
we need to get-r-done at the WKRC:
Cleaning
supplies and food donations. If anyone wishes to volunteer but cannot, they can
purchase mice for our injured Owl. Click here: Rodentpro.com Frozen Feeder Rodents
I hope to hear from you soon or see you on Saturday from 9-noon.
