Greetings to all;
Let me first say thank you to all that helped out on the Earth Day event. Reggie
organized it and we all were glad to play a part. It was our 2nd which was larger
and more successful. The weather could have been better but at the end of the
day we had good participation and support from our community. We can be proud
that we ended the day with a Great Horn owl release! It was a good day thanks
to all of you for making a difference.
Today
we have 3 baby Screech owls. I will let Laura e-mail photos of the babies as I
know she has many. We have had several babies which did not survive but we have
made the needed changes in our rehab efforts and are watching these little guys
grow.
If you
want to help feed the babies please contact Samantha Kelly via e-mail at samantha236@hotmail.com
as she will coordinate the training for the feeding volunteers. Your help is greatly
needed and most appreciated in this daily routine here at Yellow Creek.
We
just purchased about $100 in mice to feed these baby screech owls so if you would
like to adopt a raptor please let me know. This will allow you a tour of the WKRC
plus a photo shoot with Nemo. We also have a Broad Wing Hawk. What is that? Well
this little guy migrates from Canada to South America. He is in the flight cage
now and gaining strength every day, flying to the top perch already so it won’t
be long before he is on his way home to continue his migration.
Update on Paul Hardesty is that he is recovering from the stroke slowly. This
is going to take time. Paul was one of our founding board members and a key leader
in our new organization. Please keep him in your prayers. We miss our dear friend
and wish him a speedy recovery.
