We are off to a Great Start in 2007!

·    The WKRC has a new home at Yellow Creek and we have begun to clean up the old offices for the Raptor Hospital.

·     Owensboro Today ran an Article on harnessing the Hunter, A Passion for Falconry. Yours truly was the passionate one.

·    Front page news on the Messenger Inquirer :Raptor Center at Yellow Creek: Don and Ross gave a very nice interview presenting both the Park Department vision and what the WKRC is all about.

·    The Joe Ford nature walk at Ben Hawes included WKRC participation during the event on Saturday the 20th of January. Mike and Paul gave a super presentation to the group.

·    www.westkyraptor.org is our new web site check it outJ JP is keeping is up to date and on target.

Rehab efforts: Currently we have no Raptors in rehab. This is good news as it is very cold right now and our facilities are limited until the Hospital is up and running. If anyone is interested in taking a rehab 2 day course from the IWRC please contact me. Falconry News: Mike Roby & Eric gave an educational talk to the Sutton Elementary school. The kids learned much about Raptors, the environment and the conservation of the world around us.

Volunteer notes:

·    We are a non-profit organization anyone volunteering food, transportation or monetary donations to the WKRC can deduct them. So keep track of your mileage and donations and if you donate more than $250 I will write a letter of confirmation as required by the IRS.

·    For your reference the WKRC Employer ID number is EIN 20-4277304.

·    Paul Hardesty is our point of contact with the Boy Scouts and he as opened a line of communications with the Scout leadership. Already we have Jon-Caleb, an Eagle Scout, planning on building a Mews for our permanent resident birds of prey. This project will be submitted this weekend to the Scout leadership. We cannot thank the Scouts enough for partnering up with our efforts here at the WKRC.

The Raptor Hospital work plan: I will e-mail you the next work day as it is too cold right now to do much. I will also send out an e-mail ASAP with the work needed. It will be titled aptor Hospital Work plan Thanks to all who wish to help out here. We have much to do before this spring when the orphans arrive.

We could not do this without your support so feel free to share this news letter and our WebsiteJ.
